Seeing double...

Actually, it's more like seeing triple and quadruple, etc. This was just a fun day to mess around. Hope you enjoy it!

Tree's company...

It might sound like some sort of pulp-fiction but any day that was warmer then 30-something this winter, was a day worth branching out! After a few locations, I was stumped and then as luck would have it, I stumbled upon this birch tree, it was all bark and no bite and I couldn't leaf without taking a couple shots!

Although, I know some detest puns, I'm knot one of them, so please don't beat around the bush or birch about it, just let me know you're rooting for me! Good things grow in trees, hoping you'll take a lichen to me!

Horses of courses...

A horse is a horse of course of course... but I don't know the names of these two! They walked right up to the fence fearlessly and posed for me! How could I resist clicking away, just look at those long lashes! I'm jealous!

Look up...

The weather has been busy this year. It's provided forecasters lots of airtime and people lots of cleanup, backaches, headaches and memories, at least in NJ. We've had ice dams along the Delaware river, frozen pipes and finally thunder-snow and thunder storms with serious winds and while we're not done yet, it's been one for the books so far.

After all the snow and frigid temps, there was a day of rain and severe thunderstorms and once it was over I stepped out back to survey the damage. All around the lingering snow snow still on the ground, there was an awesome mist - and I looked up and saw the welcome sight of a rainbow.  I heard it once somewhere...just keep looking up.

Vintage snowfall...

I've been working on combining my photos to add a bit more interest for an overall dramatic effect. This finished piece was a combination of shots from the Crosswicks, Chesterfield areas of NJ. The scene draws your eye in and makes you wonder what's on the other side of the fence.
Photoshop is my program of choice and after spending some time with it, this one has an artistic feel to it. It's a learning process, like most things in life and I'm enjoying it! Hope you do too.

Snow White...

No not that one! This snow came from the sky and covered everything with a clean bright white blanket. Even though I'm not the first to ask, ya gotta wonder... Where DOES the white go when the snow melts?! More to come...NOT snow! ...photos of Winter!

Snow Business...

There's no business like it! Just one day after being treated to close to 60 degree temps, we woke to heavy snow falling and covering everything in sight in a relatively quick amount of time. This time storm called Maximus, brought a wet, heavy snow and trimmed the trees while laying down a new white blanket to be admired and later, dealt with.

The weather stations have begun naming the Winter storms and they say, another is following on the heels of this one, it's called Nika. While limited, at the very least, I've captured some nice photos this Winter!
More to come, another day...

Calm before the storm...

Yesterday, on SuperBowl Sunday, February 2, it was a gorgeous, balmy 59 degrees in NJ. So I headed out to find what i hoped would be a fantastic sunset. While I've seen better, I wasn't disappointed because I walked away with a few new images that I'll share another day.
Today was a whole different story!

Birds of a feather ~ continued...

Another photo of what I believe to be, is a Dark Eyed Junco. Please correct me on this, if I'm wrong, I'd like to learn how to identify different species in time.

Birds of a feather...

I loved the opportunity to photograph some birds, in the winter, with a great background and from the perfect location.  The only thing is, I'm not sure who's flock these feathers belong to!

While I enjoy watching and photographing birds, identifying each species isn't my forte. I had thought this was a finch but it seems it might possibly be a Dark Eyed Junco, which is a small, grayish sparrow, native to North America. So if you're looking at my photos and can absolutely identify this feathered friend - correctly, please let me know.
Thanks and enjoy!

A bird's eye view...

In the dead of winter, I was fortuante enough to get a blue-jay feasting on seeds. Bird watching is both relaxing and fun. More to come, another day...

Ice-olation...

Winter has served NJ up some frigid temps this January. Cold enough in fact, for the Delaware river to ice over in many areas. A frigid ride along Burlington and Florence river's edge, gave me a couple shots to share. Word of the day: FROZEN!
Enjoy from your warm computers!

Stop!...

and pay attention to all there is to be grateful for.

Life has no guarantees. There isn't always tomorrow and thoughts like 'there's still time' or 'maybe later' can become, wishes never to be granted, in the blink of an eye.

Stop and appreciate something ~ everyday.

Can you see what I see?...

Have you ever looked at objects around the house, or stared at a cloud, or a building and thought you could see a face in it?

There is actually a name for that and it's a psychological phenomenon known as pareidolia. Pareidolia is the tendency to to see or hear, a vague or random image or sound as something significant, like seeing shapes in clouds, or hearing hidden messages in music.

If this looks like fun and has you interested in seeing more, please let me know. In the meantime you can find countless blogs, Reddit and Flickr photos, Tumblrs, and hashtags dedicated to this fascinating phenomenon.

Golden slumber...

The Golden Girls as they are affectionately called, never left the side of their master when she was down and out with a nasty cold. Just too sweet to pass up but I did let sleeping dogs lie...

Sounds of Music...

Music evokes emotions whenever it's heard. Listening to notes or songs, can make you feel happy, sad, full of joy and ready to dance! Hearing a song can recall memories in an instant. The instruments that produce the sounds of music are like the brushes of an artist and able paint feelings we can hear.

One of my favorite instruments is the acoustic guitar. The melodic, silky strings, sing when they're strummed and bring a familiar, warm range of sounds that somehow comfort me.

I think the benefits of music are many - 'inspiration' is just one. That's why this photo was posted instead of a Winter one.

Oh deer!...

On one of the days when the snowfall didn't make roads impassible, a drive found a magical site. It was a hold-my-breath moment. One younger doe, refused to run off with the rest of the herd and innocently, posed for the camera. Silence and snow, just seem to go hand in hand.
